Tougher Water Restrictions on the Cards, November 7, 2008

Below average rainfall during spring – combined with high temperatures over coming months – may prompt the State Government to tighten water restrictions at the end of this month, experts warn.

Melbourne has had its driest start to spring on record and experts predict that water storage levels are not likely to improve any time soon.

“We are still continuing to establish a whole new record low of dries,” Murray-Darling Basin Commission chief executive Wendy Craik said.
